|The Velvet Dress|
Dressed Down As soon as I spotted this Velvet dress in the window at &OtherStories on Regent Street, I knew I had to have it. The lust intensified after seeing the Lou Doillon campaign where she’s wearing it onstage, barefoot and with a guitar. I could only dream of being that cool – I gave the guitar a go as a teenager to miserable results. But I could own the same dress. I popped it on my Christmas list (knowing full well that Miguel is usually very good at sticking to it) and opened it up on Christmas Day. It got it’s first outing on New Year’s Eve (it might not sparkle but as far as I’m concerned, velvet is v. festive) and then just a few days later for a trip into town. Get you a dress that can do both, that’s my motto. I don’t wear dresses as much as I used to (part comfort/part laziness) but with a good pair of boots this one doesn’t feel too dressed up at all, despite the ruffles and pearl buttons. I might not look exactly like Lou Doillon, but I felt cool enough.
