OUTFIT DETAILS Everleigh Tie Waist Maxi Dress (similar here)  | Straw Boater Hat | YSL Lou Lou Sunglasses | Hat Attack Straw Bag | Urban Decay Lipstick (Ladyflower) | Hello again from San Francisco! Well, not really at the moment, but today’s post is of pictures we shot while in San Fran a couple of weeks ago. I was there for a conference, but in the evening I had so much fun exploring the city. There is so much to see and do, and there will be a post coming up very soon all about that. But for now, just a single outfit post. San Francisco weather is not unlike Michigan weather, where there always seems to be a cool breeze in the air. But of course the city looks so much different! The architecture in San Francisco is so unique, and that is one thing I really enjoy about visiting the city.  Everleigh Tie Waist Maxi Dress I’ve had this maxi dress since the beginning of the summer. It is rare to find a maxi dress that actually fits a petite woman like myself. So when I saw this petite friendly maxi dress at Nordstrom, I knew it would be perfect to wear on a cooler San Francisco evening. I waited too long to post about it though, and unfortunately it is sold out. This dress by Eliza J. is very similar. Both dresses have a pretty blue stripe detail. And the tie waist is such a flattering detail, especially on a maxi dress. A dress like this is perfect for an evening stroll around the city (of course while wearing comfortable shoes). How to Shop for Petite Friendly Maxi Dresses Maxi Dresses are such fun to wear in the spring and summer, and even into the fall (with a jacket). There are so many pretty prints available and they can make a woman feel so feminine and stylish! But when you are short like me (5’2″) finding maxi dresses that I don’t trip over or require alterations can be very frustrating. There are definitely options available, you just have to look for them. n general, when looking for a petite friendly maxi dress I look at the shoulder seam to hem measurement. The standard length for a maxi dress is 60″. There are a few that come in a 52″ to 56″ length and this length that  is perfect for petites. And lines such as Eliza J at Nordstrom also come in petite sizes, which is really nice.  Petite Maxi Dress Inspiration As I mentioned, with the weather becoming cooler, an maxi dress can be a great transition piece. A maxi dress is long enough to keep your legs warm, and with a jacket or blazer you can be warm and stylish throughout the season. I love this Eliza J. Floral Halter Maxi Dress. The navy and pink floral design is just so pretty! This is the kind of dress that is easy to wear casually or dressed up for a formal occasion. This Felicity and Cocoa faux wrap dress also come in petite sizes, and I love the sharp contrasting navy and red colors. This navy and white dress from the Bloomingdales Aqua line looks very similar. The navy and aqua color scheme is even more elegant. And I absolutely adore this Eliza J off the shoulder maxi dress. Everything about this dress is just so stunning! The soft blue and peach floral design is so classic. And this is the kind of dress that will look nice on any body type. The wind was rather strong the day we took these pictures. After spending all day in the conference, I didn’t have much time to do my hair. So it was especially nice to have a straw boater hat (such as this one) for the trip! And my straw bag is perfect for a casual stroll through the city.  Anyway, I hope today’s post has given you lots of inspiration for petite friendly maxi dresses that will carry you through the fall! As always, thanks for stopping by! xo | April *This post contains affiliate links.
